Covid-19: Is the city providing Covid-19 testing, so the school could do rapid testing in school?
Not at this time. We are researching companies to provide rapid testing at both school locations.

Covid-19: Will students/staff be required to have COVID-19 proof of testing negative before returning to the school building?

Covid-19: Why aren’t negative Covid-19 test or antibody test required to return to school?
We can not mandate that all students get tested. We will require all families to complete a daily form to track symptoms.

Covid-19: Why is testing not mandated if there are children who have health issues are more prone to get sick?
ACS cannot mandate that all students get tested.

Covid-19: Should parents do the Covid-19 test to the students that will be hydrid before going to school or just wait if the student present any symptoms once in school?

Covid-19: In trying to secure rapid testing, would these tests be performed in school by the nurse?
We are still working to finalize plans for rapid testing.

Covid-19: How soon after a child or staff member tests positive will the rest of the community be notified?
Contract Tracing: Plans to support local health departments in contact tracing efforts using the protocols, training, and tools
provided through the New York State Contact Tracing Program
ACS will support local health departments in tracing all contacts of an individual testing positive of
COVID-19. Confidentiality will be maintained as required by federal and state law and regulations. ACS
will cooperate with state and local health departments in contact tracing, isolation and quarantine

Covid-19: Do you have enough rooms of isolation if more than one child gets sick?
Yes, we will have an separate isolation room in addition to the nurses rooms.

Covid-19: If a child is quarantined at home due to Covid-19 will that child be allowed to learn remotely during the quarantined period?
Yes, if the child is feeling well enough to engage in their classwork.

Covid-19: The WHO said kids under 5 should not under normal circumstances wear a masks. My concern are kids (any age) if is safe to wear a mask for 7, 8 ,9 hours?

Covid-19: When will East Harlem/Kingsbridge schools open if we choose all day school and how many days will the students attend?
When Hybrid learning begins students will be in school Monday-Thursday on their assigned week. All students will be reomote on Fridays.

Facilities: Can we go to the building and see how clean school is for January?
We will provide photos/videos of the school for families to view before students begin hybrid learning in the classrooms.

Facilities: How will children in the restroom be monitored to ensure social distancing?
Teachers are well trained in bathroom protocols. The number of students using the bathroom at one time will be monitored.

Facilities: Why wasn’t the HVAC Filter System added to the East Harlem building?
The East Harlem building is an older building therefore we are unable to add in a central HVAC filter system. We have added air purifiers in each classroom and office.

Instruction: If the school starts hybrid learning do I have the option to keep my child in remote learning ?
Yes, once you choose remote. Your child will be remote learning for the entire school year.
