  • What grades are available during the 2024-2025 school year?
    Kindergarten through 6th grade in Amber Charter School East Harlem (ACS EH), Kindergarten through 8th grade at Amber Charter School Kingsbridge (ACS KB). Kindergarten through 4th grade at Amber Charter School Inwood (ACS IW).

    What is the deadline to apply for the 2024-2025 school year?
    April 1st, 2024

    When will the lottery take place?
    Amber Charter School East Harlem, Kingsbridge, and Inwood will hold its admissions lottery on April 3rd, 2024.

    How and when will I find out if my child is accepted?
    Applicants chosen in the lottery will receive an email, text, & phone call the same day.

    How and when will I find out if my child was not accepted?
    Applicants not chosen in the lottery receive a letter informing them that they have been waitlisted.

    Is there a birth date cutoff?
    To apply for Kindergarten, your child must be 5 by December 31st of 2024.

    How does the enrollment preference work?
    As per NY State law dictates that preference be given to students residing at Community School District #4 for ACS EH, Community School District #10 for ACS KB, and Community District #6 for ACS IW to applicants at the time of the lottery. Amber Charter School is legally allowed to give enrollment preference to students with brothers or sisters enrolled at Amber Charter School EH, KB, and IW locations. Siblings must share at least one biological parent or share a legal guardian. This information will be verified before enrollment.

    What are your school hours?
    Our students attend school from 8:00 AM to 3:10 PM 

    Do you have an after-school program?
    ACS EH has an after-school program that begins at dismissal and ends at 6:00 PM every day. There is a fee of $160 a month that is payable the 15th of the month prior to service. ACS KB after-school program is supported by Manhattan College, please view website for additional information and monthly fee.

    Is bus service provided?
    For Amber Charter School East Harlem bus service is available only for Manhattan students who reside outside a 10-block radius within Manhattan, as stated from NYC Office of Pupil Transportation busing is limited to the borough of Manhattan. Students from other boroughs are eligible to receive a Metro Card. 
    For Amber Charter School Kingsbridge and Inwood bus service is not available, students who reside outside a 10-block radius from the school are eligible to receive a Metro Card. 

    If I applied last year, do I need to apply again this year?
    Applications and waiting lists do not “roll over” from year to year.

    Late applications will be placed on the wait list in the order they are received.
